I've got a little behind in my podcast listening of late and stumbled across the Radio National's The Ark's podcast called The Enlightenment Is Not Godless. Rachael Kohn talks to Wayne Hudson who argues that most of the philosophers from the enlightenment were not anti God. They certainly critiqued the current state of the dominant religion and some were atheists but it wasn't the death of God for all intelligent thinkers. Of course this doesn't affect the legitimacy of atheism or Xy, just an interesting bit of history.
